FAQs
1. What makes Flow 2 Pro so special?
Insta360 Flow 2 Pro is our next-generation flagship AI-powered phone stabilizer, packed with groundbreaking upgrades that take mobile videography to the next level.
With Deep Track 4.0, get access to advanced Active Zoom Tracking, Multi-Person Tracking, and more. Exclusively compatible with Apple DockKit, Flow 2 Pro enables seamless AI-powered tracking not only in your iPhone's native camera app but also across 200+ apps like FaceTime, Zoom, and livestreaming platforms.
There's also handy features like the new Selfie Mirror, Teleprompter Mode for scripts, Remote Control via Apple Watch or a second smartphone, Free Tilt Mode, and so much more! Make every creative shot come to life on the go.
2. What's the difference between Flow 2, Flow 2 Plus and Flow 2 Pro?
Our three Flow 2 models share most of the same smart shooting features, with some differences in tracking capabilities and hardware design. Here's a quick comparison to help you choose:
The Flow 2 Pro Difference
- Flow 2 Pro features several signature touches — including a built-in selfie mirror, transparent motor design, and a tracking ring light — all of which are not available on Flow 2 & Flow 2 Plus;
- Compatible with Apple DockKit: No extra accessories needed — enjoy system-level native tracking across 200+ iOS apps;
- 360° Infinite Pan Tracking: Flow 2 Pro is the first¹ compact gimbal to support 360° Infinite Pan Tracking, allowing for freer, angle-free shooting. Flow 2 & Flow 2 Plus’s pan axis rotates from -210° to 120°, with some angle limitations.
- Free Tilt Mode: Only Flow 2 Pro supports 360° free tilt rotation — enabling smooth combos like lifts, orbits, pushes, and low-angle shots.
The Flow 2 Plus Difference
Flow 2 Plus is our Flow 2 gimbal with an included AI tracker, meaning you'll have better support for tracking in third-party apps, or if you're a native Android user. The standard bundles of Flow 2 and Flow 2 Pro do not include this accessory, they'll need to be purchased separately.
3. Is the Flow 2 Series compatible with Android phones?
Yes! The Flow 2 Series is compatible with Android phones. Only a small number of features are not supported on Android:
Aside from these limitations, Android users can still enjoy the core features of the Flow 2 Series, including Flow 2 Pro’s exclusive¹ 360° Infinite Pan Tracking and Free Tilt Mode, as well as shared features across the series such as S martphone Remote Control, Pro Framing Grid, Person Re-Identification, and Animal Tracking.
For full compatibility information, please refer to the Flow 2 Series compatibility list.
4. What is Apple DockKit? What are the compatibility requirements for Apple DockKit?
Apple DockKit is a tracking technology developed by Apple. When paired with DockKit-compatible motorized stands, it enables iPhones with iOS 17 and later to seamlessly track subjects during shooting, keeping them in frame and centered.
Using DockKit tracking requires an Apple device compatible with DockKit, specifically an iPhone 12 or later model (excludes iPhone SE 3rd generation and iPhone 16e) running iOS 17 or higher. No additional apps or authorization are required.
Users running iOS 18 will enjoy even more native camera tracking modes and SmartWheel options like zoom and switching between the front and rear cameras.
5. What's the difference in tracking between Apple DockKit, AI Tracker, and the Insta360 app?
Apple DockKit Native Tracking
No accessories needed — enjoy system-level subject tracking across 200+ third-party iOS apps. Ideal for everyday scenarios like vlogging or video calls. When shooting with the native iPhone Camera or apps like Blackmagic, you can also access more controls via the gimbal’s control wheel.
Currently, Apple DockKit supports human subject tracking only (not animals or objects), but its capabilities will continue to improve with future iOS updates.
AI Tracker
Once attached, the AI Tracking Module unlocks faster and more accurate tracking in third-party apps, for both Android and iOS users. It supports tracking of people, animals, and more, and adds handy features like gesture control and smart framing.
Insta360 Deep Track 4.0
The most advanced tracking system we've developed to date, Deep Track 4.0 supports precise tracking of humans, animals, and objects. It's especially reliable in dynamic, fast-moving, or wide-range scenes — perfect for action-packed shooting. We recommend using the Insta360 App to get the best experience.
It also unlocks several exclusive and industry-leading smart features. If you're not tied to third-party apps, we suggest shooting within the Insta360 App to take full advantage of its advanced tracking tools:
- Active Zoom Tracking: Keeps your subject sharp and stable, even at a distance.
- Multi-Person Tracking: No cap on the number of tracked subjects — everyone stays in frame.
- Pro Framing Grid: Built-in golden ratio grid and nine key framing points help you shoot cinematic compositions with a single tap.
